- [Voiceover] Folders are a very important…part of Dropbox…because they help us organize stuff.…You have all these files in here.…Putting them in folders helps us find them…and there are two basic types.…We have the regular folder…which looks like a regular folder…and then we have the shared folder…which is my favorite…because it has little people on it…and I do adore that.…Now we're going to use both types…and we're going to work both here…in the web browser…and this should look the same…regardless of what computer you're on,…what browser you're using.…
I mean there could be some minor differences…because of the way browsers render things…but essentially this should behave the same…because it's a web app, right?…All right so let's create a new folder.…We go up to new folder,…click on it,…give it a name.…We'll give it AAA folder…that way it'll stay at the top.…I'm going to hit Return…and there we go.…Now if we wish to share it,…we just click on the Share button,…put in the name of the person…with whom we want to share…and you could add their email…
The two OS, one Dropbox folder setup. I’ve now set up two different laptops to dual-boot Windows 10 and different Linux distributions. Here’s how to ensure you maintain one Dropbox folder over both operating systems. Assuming Windows was there first: Mount the Windows drive in Linux. Install Dropbox in Linux. Sign in to link to Dropbox.

Dropbox is a great tool where you can save and share your files and projects with other people. It makes collaboration and access easier for you and for other people involved in the project you are doing because the shared folder will also appear in their Dropbox. Even sharing pictures, music, and other media files with family and friends becomes easier. Here is how you set up a shared folder in Dropbox.
1. If the folder you want to share isn't on Dropbox yet, choose which folder you want to share from your computer to your Dropbox account. Add that folder you want to share into the Dropbox folder in your computer.
2. In the Dropbox folder, right-click the folder you want to share and choose 'Share this Folder.'
3. To check if that folder was successfully uploaded, log in to your Dropbox account and locate the folder. Then, right-click the space beside the folder you want to share and click 'Invite to Folder.'
4. Once you click the 'Invite to Folder' option, there's a pop up box where you can type the email addresses of the people you want to share the folder with. You can also type an optional message for the recipients. Then click 'Share.'
5. If for example the folder is already shared and you want to invite more people, right-click the space beside the folder and choose 'Shared Folder Options.' The same pop-up box will appear where you can add the email addresses of people you want to share the folder with.
6. Once you shared the folder, you will notice that the shared folder has a 'People' icon on its folder while those that were not shared don't have.
7. You can also protect the files in that folder by choosing whether the person you shared the folder with can edit or only view the files in that folder. You can find these options beside the name of each person you have shared the folder.
